Gocco pictures

Gocco

Hurray! My print Gocco has arrived at long last, stumbling it's way from Japan via America.

And there it is! Beautifully photographed against the lovely carpet in my rented accomodation.
I'm still waiting on the inks and other things I need to make it work.

For anyone who who might be rather confused, a Gocco is a handy, portable-sized (about 10" by 8") screen printing machine, originating from Japan. As well as being a handy size, it also has the possibility to produce multi-colour prints using only one screen, by squeeging different colours of ink through different areas of the design.
For more information, I recommend Mark Pawson's webpage.

Stay tuned for further adventures with the Gocco.

Lino prints!

Hello,

This printing business is set to be a weekly event at a print studio in Bath (the same place as the letterpress). It's an intrigueing place - lots of old printing machines and trays and trays of letters!

Anyway, this week I decided to have a go at lino printing, which is something I don't think I've done since GCSE art.
So, I translated a detail from an illustration I had previously done in Illustrator into a lino cut - this one was supposed to be the practice piece, but it took ages to cut out, so, here it is!

I'm going to do letterpress again next week to give myself time to cut a really good (hopefully) lino for the following week. Should be interesting.
Watch this space for more printing and letterpress... I'm also working on my website at the moment, so this blog should get a bit more exciting once I get that under control.

Toodle pip.

letterpress photos

letterpress

Hallo,

Just getting the hang of this blogging business.
Anyway, I'm going to post up a couple of photos from my first letterpress workshop!

Yes! That is my name on a beermat! Yes, the 'c' is backwards and the 's' is upside down!

T'was a tricky business. Ah well, might try something a bit more ambitious soon.

hallo

Thanks for visiting my blog.
I think that this would be an appropriate place to make a brief introduction.

My name is Catriona Finnie and I am a graduate graphic designer/ illustrator. This blog will function as a sort of news section in combination with my website; it is where I will post any recent work/ stuff in progress and other things that may (or may not) be relevant.

I hope
you enjoy strolling through my particular piece of turf on the web.

Cat.
